Shannen Mythen

After studying child education and being a teacher for 10 years, Shannen Mythen discovered her true passion in painting. She transitioned from her birthplace, Ireland, to California with her husband in 2018. In 2020, she decided to solely focus on her abstract artwork. Soon after that, she began taking part in local art exhibitions, shows, and fairs. Shannen currently works from her home studio in San Diego while also adding remote work of mural painting to her CV. The materials most commonly used in her work are acrylic, ink, and resin epoxy on canvas and wood. Although the theme of her work can change through these materials, the one element that is present in each piece is Shannen's mission to bring "light, love, serenity, peace, and happiness into its space." She uses pops of color to create energy, movement, and joy and neutral base tones to create serenity and calm. Shannen’s intuitive, meticulous, and lengthy process combines the Celtic energy of Ireland and the spiritual light of California.
